PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2016
In his ninth MLS season, Franklin was once again reliable on the right side of defense for the Black-and-Red. The California native played in 29 matches (all starts) and surpassed 20,000 minutes played for his career. He scored his only goal of the year in United’s 2-0 win over the New England Revolution on 6/25 and assisted on goals on 8/27 and 7/23.
2015
In his second season with D.C. United, the two-time MLS Cup winner and former MLS Rookie of the Year continued to solidify a position at fullback for one of the stingiest defenses in the Eastern Conference. Franklin scored in a 2-0 win over Columbus on May 2, made his 200th MLS appearance against New England on May 23 and his 200th start in the Black-and-Red’s 4-0 win over Chicago on Oct. 18.
2014
In his first season in D.C., Franklin earned his first MLS All-Star selection, making 29 appearances (28 starts) with one goal and a career high-matching four assists. Scored in 4-1 win over FC Dallas on Apr. 26. Had two assists in 3-1 win at Houston Oct. 12.
2013
As a six-year veteran, Franklin featured in 35 games (31 starts), and registered four assists and one goal during a 4-0 win over the Seattle Sounders.
2012
Franklin played 39 matches, starting 38, and registered 5 assists in the 2012 regular season. The defender added another four assists in the playoffs, seeing the Galaxy to another MLS Cup.
2011
In his 4th year in MLS, outside back gained momentum on the attack, appearing in 32 games (29 starts), netting four goals and helping on three others. Franklin misses five of the final six matches on the reuglar seaon due to a right knee injury, but returned to help LA to a second-straight Supports' Shield as well as his first MLS Cup.
2010
Franklin returned to form in 2010, making 28 appearances, starting all but one. The talented defender with the ability to get forward and create chances registered 6 assists on the year. Franklin's consistent and dynamic play at the back helped lead the Galaxy to the 2010 Supporters' Shield. Franklin also has CONCACAF experience, netting the first goal of his MLS career in a 2-1 win at Puerto Rico on 8/4 in the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions League Preliminary Round series.
2009
Coming off a strong rookie campaign, Franklin continued to impress, despite missing four months recovering from surgery to repair a torn right hamstring. Upon returning, Franklin started all 17 matches he features in, helping LA make a run into the playoffs.
2008
Sean Franklin was selected 4th overall in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by the LA Galaxy. After making 27 appearances (26 starts) in the Galaxy back line, Franklin won MLS Rookie of the Year as well as LA Galaxy Defender of the Year.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
2011
Franklin made his international debut in the 1-1 draw with Chile on 1/22/11, playing the full 90 minutes at right back in that game.
2008-09
Franklin was called into US training camps, but was not selected for the full team.

He was named to the 2007 All-Big West Conference First Team in 2007. Franklin was named All-Big West First Team and All-Far West Region Second Team after his junior campaign.;He earned First Team All-Big West Conference and Third Team All-Far West Region honors.earn All-Big West Conference Second Team honors as a freshman.
