D.C. United (2018): The second-year man became a familiar face to fans of the Black-and-Red earning 27 appearances (21 starts). The Hungarian international scored five goals for United this season. Stieber’s two point performances against the New York Red Bulls, Philadelphia, and Vancouver this season have solidified him a dangerous midfielder in this league. The winger solidified a massive three points for United with a well taken goal against New England on August 19. Stieber set new career-highs for successful passes (61), total touches (91), and total shots (five) in a game against Orlando City SC. Stieber also earned one cap for Hungary in 2018, appearing in a UEFA Nations League match against Finland.
D.C. United (2017): Since joining the Black-and-Red in August, Stieber became a key component in the United midfield, appearing in all eight of the club’s final matches, making six starts. The Hungarian international quickly established himself in MLS, playing 80 minutes in his first start on Aug. 26 against New England. Stieber helped force a draw with the New York Red Bulls on Sept. 27 after his free kick was deflected into the Red Bull net in first half stoppage time. Stieber then recorded his first MLS assist by starting the passing sequence that led to Mullins’ 70th minute goal. The attack-minded midfielder was a consistent offensive threat and he provided United with 16 key passes in only six starts. In 2017, Stieber earned six caps for Hungary. He featured in four out of Hungary’s six World Cup qualification matches.

The 28-year-old has 21 caps for the Hungarian national team, including three appearances during the 2016 UEFA European Championship. Stieber scored against Austria in Hungary’s first match at the tournament and has appeared in matches throughout World Cup and Euro qualification.
The Hungarian totaled 129 appearances in 2. Bundesliga, scoring 26 goals and recording 38 assists. He also made 50 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring 6 goals and adding 6 assists.
After growing up in Sárvár, Hungary, Stieber spent several years in the Aston Villa academy, and played for Yeovil Town (English League One) on loan. The left-footed attacker signed with TuS Koblenz in 2. Bundesliga (the German second division) in January of 2009, marking the beginning of successful career in Germany. Stieber played for Alemannia Aachen, Mainz 05, Greuther Fürth, Hamburger SV and most recently 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
Stieber, who has most often lined up as a left winger, can also play on the right, as a central attacking midfielder, a secondary forward, center forward and even as a left back.
