United midfielder Zoltán Stieber has been called up to the Hungarian National Team for their upcoming international friendlies against Kazakhstan (March 23) and Scotland (March 27).
Stieber made his debut for Hungary as a substitute in the 2-1 win against Sweden in European Qualifiers on Sept. 2, 2011, and since then has scored three times and recorded two assists in 25 appearances for his country. He scored his first goal for Hungary on June 5, 2015, in the 4-0-win against Lithuania. Stieber also scored for Hungary at the 2016 UEFA Championships in a 2-0 win against Austria on June 14, 2016, in the group stage of the tournament.
United acquired Stieber on a permanent transfer from 1. FC Kaiserslautern in Germany on August 9, 2017. Since joining the Black-and-Red, Stieber has made 10 MLS regular season appearances for the club. He scored his first goal and recorded his first assist in the 3-3 draw against the New York Red Bulls on Sept. 27, 2017.
In 2018, Stieber has started both of United’s regular season matches against Orlando City (March 3) and Atlanta United (March 11) and leads the team with three chances created.
