United host annual Holiday Party for Kids - United host 2016 Holiday Party for Kids

D.C. United, Events DC and the U.S. Marines joined together to host the first-ever Holiday Party for Kids at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The event, which took place as part of the Black-and-Red's “Season of Giving” community initiative, hosted over 50 elementary students coming from organizations across D.C. like DC SCORES, Most Valuable Kids D.C., Sasha Bruce Youthworks and more.

Upon arrival, youth were greeted by Marine Corps members and United goalkeeper Travis Worra, who helped lead the children through a number of arts & crafts activity stations which included gingerbread man decorating, a paper snowman creation station and a popsicle stick snowflake creation station.

"The people that support us, it's not a one-way street," Worra said. "We support our fans, young and old.  Most importantly, these kids deserve a great Christmas. Times may be tough, and whatever the situation may be, we want to be there to give them a happy [holiday season]."

At the conclusion of the event, youth were lead down to the locker room at RFK, where students were able to select from a variety of wrapped gifts thanks to toy drives held by the Screaming Eagles and Turner Construction.

In addition to the toys, each child in attendance was also surprised with a mini bicycle and helmet, which were donated by the U.S. Marines Corps. For more information on D.C. United’s community programs and events, visit dcunited.com/community, or follow on Twitter at @DCU_CR.
