D.C. United today announced, through United Drives, that the program will collect donations of gently used sports equipment for Leveling the Playing Field on Saturday, June 29 before United’s match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Leveling the Playing Field is a charity that gives underprivileged children the chance to enjoy athletic involvement. The organization collects donations of sports equipment from colleges, county recreation departments, families and individual donors throughout the nation. The equipment will be collected when D.C. United hosts Vancouver Whitecaps FC. BUY TICKETS HERE
"We are excited to kick off our partnership with Leveling the Playing Field and we are pleased to assist them by collecting much-needed soccer equipment for D.C. area youth,” said D.C. United’s Director of Community Relations Aprile Pritchet.
"We are excited about this partnership with D.C. United,” said Executive Director of Leveling the Playing Field Max Levitt. “This collaboration is going to go a long way toward putting soccer equipment in the hands of young children who otherwise would not have had the opportunity to play with their own soccer ball or put on their own shin guards.”
The United Drives booth is located outside of RFK Stadium’s Gate A and will open an hour and a half prior to kickoff, closing 15 minutes into the first half. Any fan that donates an item will receive a “Buy One, Get One Free” ticket voucher good for any D.C. United regular-season home game as well as a United promotional item, as a thank you from the club. Donations are accepted in the D.C. United offices on game and non-game days, located on the fourth floor of Gate A.
