Washington, D.C. (September 17, 2009) - D.C. United and its charitable arm, United for D.C., today announced the club’s charity has been named a beneficiary of the Acumen Solutions Race for a Cause 8K race. The race will be held on November 1 in the Ballston and Clarendon neighborhoods of Arlington, Va.
Acumen Solutions selected 13 local non-profit organizations to be the beneficiaries of funds raised by the race. Runners will have the opportunity to choose which organization they would like to race for.
“We are pleased to be selected as a beneficiary for this race,” said Kat Cheshire, Program Coordinator of United for D.C. “Acumen Solutions has generously given of their time to help us accomplish goals of our organization through board leadership and now the inclusion as a Race beneficiary.”

Through the Acumen Solutions Race for a Cause 8K, we are proud to provide another inspiring way to both get healthy and give back to the community we live in.”
The 8K race will start and end on North Quincy Street, near the intersection of Wilson Boulevard in Arlington. It will start at 8 a.m. ET and runners of all levels, as well as walkers are encouraged to participate. The event is produced in partnership with Potomac River Running.
