United Builds and SOME

While the team is away training for the 2011 season, D.C. United staff and volunteers continue to make an impact in the DC community. On Tuesday, February 8, volunteers from D.C. Unitedā€™s United Builds program visited So Others Might Eat (SOME) to serve hundreds of DC area homeless.

Volunteers helped to prepare the lunchtime meal service and dining room for guests to take a break from the cold and enjoy a hot meal. D.C. United staff and fans joined together to fulfill a variety of tasks from serving the food to hosting the guests and ensuring as many individuals as possible were able to enjoy the service.

D.C. United has volunteered with So Others Might Eat for the past 5 years and will continue to support the efforts in a few ways. In addition to another volunteer lunch service in 2011, the Black & Red are currently collecting winter accessories as part of the teamā€™s United Drives program, to benefit SOME.

D.C. United fans, employees, and team volunteered over 800 hours in 2010. Learn more about upcoming D.C. United community events and how you can volunteer.
