D.C. United have announced that Tom Hunt will be leaving his role as the clubā€™s President of Business Operations to take up a new role in sports.

ā€œWe want to thank Tom for his years of service and commitment to the club,ā€ Jason Levien, United General Managing Partner and CEO, said. "He was a valued part of the team that turned the opening of our new world class home, Audi Field, into a historic success. He was a key leader in securing vital partnerships that have led to unprecedented growth for our organization. We wish him all the best moving forward.ā€

Hunt joined D.C. United in March 2014, after working for three years at Monumental Sports & Entertainment in Washington DC, overseeing corporate partnerships and advertising revenue.

Hunt is a 27-year veteran in the sports and entertainment industry, having served varied roles in sales and marketing for the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, WWE and Turner Broadcasting.

ā€œWhen I joined D.C. United four-and-half years ago, our mission was to transform the business and the brand, with a laser focus on growing the fan base and delivering a world class stadium the District deserved,ā€ Tom Hunt said. "It has been a privilege to work alongside the entire D.C. United family to see these goals realized. Itā€™s certainly an exciting time to be a part of the Black-and-Red community!ā€
