Inter Milan is off to a hot start to open the 2014-15 season. The Nerazzurri currently sit in fifth place with eight points after five games (2-2-1) and leads all Series A teams with 11 goals. Much of the team’s offensive explosion can be credited to Italian striker Pablo Osvaldo, who is tied for the Serie A lead with four goals and two assists.
Inter’s first loss of the seaosn came at the hands of Cagliari in a 4-1 defeat on Sept. 28. The score was even early at 1-1, following a goal in the 10th minute from Cagliari striker Marco Sau and Osvaldo’s response in the 18th minute. The turning point of the match came when Yuto Nagatomo was sent off with a red card in the 27th minute. Cagliari capitalized on the advantage, as Albin Ekdal scored twice in a five-minute span (29’, 34’). He then capped off his hat trick in the 45th minute.
The Black-and-Blue will look to bounce back as Walter Mazzarri and co. host Azerbaijani club Qarabag in the Europa League on Oct. 2.
