“When Erick and I joined Will as partners at D.C. United, we wanted to not only support the community-minded culture of the club, we wanted to be a part of it,” said United Managing Partner Jason Levien. “United Builds is a unique program that brings together staff, players and supporters for a great cause and we’re happy to be able to participate on Monday.”
In the spirit of volunteerism and community involvement, D.C. United launched United Builds in 2005 providing more than 3,500 hours of service since. Through the program, the club organizes work opportunities at a variety of partner non-profit organizations, including Thrive DC, Habitat for Humanity, Children’s National Medical Center, the Salvation Army, Bread for the City and The Alice Ferguson Foundation, among others. This month alone, United Builds coordinated 30 volunteers to help prepare two local elementary schools for the school year, organized a group of 15 to prepare meals at DC Central Kitchen and provided nine people to assist Food and Friends in packaging groceries for those in need.
