In a match where D.C. United produced a much-needed tie, it was the young-guns that brought the heat, and special tributes were made.

Each season the Black-and-Red host one match in which tribute is paid to all five of the branches of the military and the members who have or continue to fight for our country. Sunday's match was Armed Forces Night, which included pre-game and halftime color guard presentations. Members of the military were offered discounted tickets, and D.C. United sponsors donated tickets to veterans through VetTix. Thank you to the US Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy.

Three University of Maryland alumni started the match for the Black-and-Red. Ethan White, now in his third season with the club originally signed as a homegrown player in 2010. Taylor Kemp, D.C. United's 2013 SuperDraft pick made his professional debut and managed a shot in his first 45 minutes. Casey Townsend, who was acquired from Chivas USA in January 2013, made his second start on the season.

Kyle Porter found the back of the net in his first MLS goal on Sunday. A lofted cross from Chris Pontius to the back post found a darting Porter who made the finish look simple. Porter scored a goal on March 23 against Columbus, which ended up being called back due to an offsides call on Lionard Pajoy.
