Of Philadelphia’s 15 shots, ten of them were offtarget. It’s easy to blame theUnion’s poor finishing for the high number, but United’s organized defensedeserves much of the credit for forcing Philly to settle for the type oflong-distance shots that rarely trouble goalkeeper Bill Hamid. When all was said and done, D.C. hadjust one less shot on target than their northern rivals.

Just like in the U.S. Open Cup match earlier this month,five yellow cards were handed out in the second straight rather ‘chippy’installment of the fledgling rivalry.
