Kickoff Luncheon raises more than $30,000

United for D.C. - 10th Anniversary

D.C. United and its charitable arm, United for D.C., announced today the Tenth Annual United Kickoff Luncheon raised more than $30,000. The event, held at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park, was sponsored in part by Clark Construction Group. The Luncheon featured Dave Johnson, television voice of D.C. United, as the eventā€™s emcee. Head coach, Ben Olsen, provided a glimpse of the 2012 team and what each individual will bring to the field as the team looks to kick-off its season on Saturday, March 10, 2012.

All proceeds from the event will benefit United for D.C., which was established by D.C. United as a 501 (c) 3 organization in 2002. Currently celebrating its Tenth Anniversary, the non-profit foundation has three signature programs: United Reads, which encourages a love for reading and healthy lifestyles in six local public schools, Kicks for Kids, which provides the game-day experience to thousands of at-risk, under-served youth each season, and United Soccer Club, which provides free after-school soccer programming to disadvantaged urban children throughout the greater D.C. area.
