D.C. United today announced that they will participate in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service by working with City Year to help beautify Calvin Coolidge High School in Northwest D.C.
The MLK Day of Service is part of United We Serve, the President’s national call to service initiative, which calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.
"We’re excited to continue our tradition of serving on MLK Day,” said D.C. United Director of Community Relations Victor Melara. "This is a great opportunity to give back to those in our local community.”
Founded in 1988, City Year is an education-focused nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to help keep students in school and on track to succeed. The public-private partnership brings together teams of young AmeriCorps members who commit to a year of full-time service in schools.
