Washington, D.C. (September 17, 2010) - As part of D.C. United’s continued efforts to serve the greater Washington, DC community and through its United Builds program, the club will once again partner with Volkswagen and MLS W.O.R.K.S. for a Habitat for Humanity build in Silver Spring, MD. This build with Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County is the third Habitat for Humanity project D.C. United has participated in this year, also working on build sites in Washington, DC and Northern Virginia.
United kicked-off its three-day, three-city build in Southeast Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, July 13, with a second build July 17 in Arlington, Virginia. The third and final build will take place on Thursday, September 23. Several D.C. United players will also be on site following the team’s morning training session to offer their assistance along with staff and volunteers. Fans interested in volunteering in United’s efforts to provide affordable housing for low-income families in the D.C. Metropolitan area may register at firstgiving.com/dcunited or by emailing Aprile Pritchet at apritchet@dcunited.com. The event will serve as a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity. A suggested $30 donation will be asked of each participant.

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County (HFH-MC) is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Since 1982, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County has been partnering with the community and low-income families living in substandard conditions, to build simple, decent, affordable housing. To date, HFH-MC has built or rehabilitated 56 homes for local families and has more homes in progress. HFH-MC supports the notion that good, stable housing matters for neighborhoods.
