The World Cup Trophy Tour presented by Coca-Cola made its first stop in the United States on Monday, April 14th in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. State Department, welcomed by Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry. D.C. United players Conor Shanosky, Joe Willis, Kyle Porter and Nana Attakora were also on hand conducting a soccer clinic for local youth soccer organizations and Special Olympics athletes.
The FIFA World Cup begins on June 12th and Major League Soccer will take a break from its Regular Season schedule to celebrate the tournament and the many MLS players representing their countries. Following MLS' "For Club and Country" initiative D.C. United will be getting into the World Cup spirit with exclusive content on dcunited.com as well as events in and around our community to help share the World’s game. With the U.S. Men’s National Team roster announcement expected in late May or early June, the Black-and-Red faithful will be waiting anxiously to see if United forward Eddie Johnson will receive a call-up.
