In an effort to spread holiday cheer throughout the D.C. region, D.C. United will participate in a series of community events that make up the team's “Season of Giving” initiative. During the month-long initiative, D.C. United players, front office staff and volunteers will collaborate with various local organizations to take part in numerous activities aimed at giving back to the local community while celebrating the spirit of the holidays with children and their families.
To kick off the activities, D.C. United forward Conor Doyle and goalkeeper Travis Worra will visit young patients at the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at Georgetown University’s Lombardi Cancer Center. The following day, Doyle will join D.C. United mascot Talon at a holiday party for at-risk youth and their families at District Alliance for Safe Housing (DASH).
Additionally, D.C. United front office employees will team up with other local volunteers to lay wreaths on a veteran’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery for Wreaths Across America and also host a screening of the movie ELF at Angelika’s Pop Up Theater at Union Market for DC SCORES youth.
