In a continuous effort to spread joy this holiday season, on December 3, D.C. United in partnership with the Kuykenstrong Foundation paid a visit to young patients at the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at Georgetown University’s Lombardi Cancer Center.
First team players Conor Doyle and Jared Jeffrey along with representatives from the Kuykenstrong Foundation participated in numerous activities during the visit which included coloring with the children and the creation of a soccer ball themed collage. In a more competitive activity, kids also had fun playing FIFA against D.C. United players.
In addition to the activities, all participants were treated to a pizza party sponsored by the Kuykenstrong Foundation and D.C. United players helped spread the holiday cheer by distributing gift bags complete with toys and books to the youth.
The visit held a special meaning for D.C. United. Former D.C. United player Shawn Kuykendall passed away from cancer earlier this year. The Kuykenstrong Foundation was created in his memory to support children suffering from pediatric cancer and their families.
