D.C. United announced today that the club will hostits 13th Annual Armed Forces & Veterans Appreciation Day onSaturday, April 28, as the Black-and-Red take on the Houston Dynamo at RFKStadium (7:30 p.m. ET / Comcast SportsNet). The event will feature programsthroughout the day in support of our Armed Forces, Veterans and their families,and is supported in part by American Airlines and GEICO.
A festival to showcase aspects of the Armed Forcescommunity will be featured in the Tailgate Area in Lot 8 beginning at 5:00 p.m.It will include booths for Armed Forces recruiters, the USO-Metro and variousDepartment of Defense contractor’s booths and static displays.
Pre-match activities will include a swearing-inceremony of new recruits, Colors presented by a Joint Armed Forces Color Guard,and the National Anthem performed by Master Sergeant Antonio Guiliano, SeniorVocalist & National Anthem Soloist of the U.S. Army Chorus.
At halftime, MSG Giuliano will return to lead the fansin “God Bless America”, following a precision drill performance by the UnitedStates Air Force Drill Team.
D.C. United will also have community outreach effortsahead of Saturday’s event, including a visit to the Walter Reed NationalMilitary Medical Center and a United Builds event at USO-Metro.
