The D.C. United Foundation will hold its annual Fall Classic youth soccer tournament on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the RFK Auxiliary Field located at 21st St NE and Oklahoma Ave NE. The tournament will showcase over 30 teams comprised of youth ages 6-12 who are participants in the United Soccer Club 2014 fall program.
The tournament will bring together youth from across the District and Maryland to RFK Stadium, exemplifying D.C. United’s commitment to the community. All participants will have recently completed a 12-week soccer program, as part of the United Soccer Club, and will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of friends and family. The event will feature tournament style matches and family fun activities for youth and families to enjoy.
United Soccer Club enrolled close to 700 children in the program this fall, teaching participants the importance of a healthy lifestyle through physical activity and proper nutrition, as well as life skills that are beneficial on and off the field. The program, which focuses on serving youth in underserved communities, operates at 14 sites throughout the DC metropolitan area. All teams meet three times a week after school for 90-minute sessions led by local coaches. The 2014 season also had a series of friendly matches that are a highlight for parents and further the participants’ sense of teamwork, commitment and healthy competition.
