Washington, D.C. (September 16, 2010) - D.C. United announced today the club has acquired a conditional 2011 second round MLS SuperDraft selection from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for defender Carey Talley. Talley leaves United after rejoining the club on March 26, 2010. The 34-year-old began his MLS career with the Black-and-Red in 1998, capturing the 1999 MLS Cup before initially departing Washington in 2001.
“We would like to thank Carey for his contributions to D.C. United and we wish him the best of luck in the future,” said United General Manager Dave Kasper.
In 2010, Talley has played in 15 matches for United (13 starts), registering 1,141 minutes on the pitch. The defender has one goal to his name this season, a penalty kick on May 29 in a 3-2 victory over Chivas USA. Prior to re-joining D.C. United, Talley featured for Chivas USA, Real Salt Lake, FC Dallas, and Kansas City.
