October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Chris Pontius is ready to show his support. In a recent Tweet, he revealed a new pair of pink kicks that he'll be donning for the cause:
But Pontius is not alone, D.C. United, United for D.C. and MLS W.O.R.K.S. will be implementing pink elements throughout the month in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. United kits will feature a pink ribbon patch and players will be issued pink headbands, shoe laces, goalkeeper gloves, and towels. Also, the new adidas MLS Prime ball will shed it’s traditional blue for a shade of pink.
The club’s Team Store will sell limited edition breast cancer awareness hats in white and black and a one-of-a-kind black coffee mug. Fans can pick up these items in-store on October 20 or online at dcuteamstore.com. Proceeds from merchandise will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Starting on October 15, MLS W.O.R.K.S. will be auctioning off game-worn jerseys and official pink adidas Prime balls online to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation as well as the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation in Canada.
