MLS Experience

2021: Homegrown Kevin Paredes was a standout for D.C. United in 2021. The 18-year-old wingback made 24 appearances (19 starts) and logged 1,553 minutes. During that time, Paredes scored three goals, recorded one assist, and won two penalties for the Black-and-Red. The league recognized the talented young wingback as he was named 11th in the MLS 22 Under 22 list. Paredes was named to the MLS Team of the Week in weeks 11, 14, and 30.

2020: Paredes was signed as D.C. United’s 14th Homegrown Player on Jan. 17, 2020 and had an impactful first year with the Black-and-Red. The 17-year-old made 17 appearances (nine starts) and made his MLS debut at the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando, Florida, against Toronto FC on July 13. Paredes contributed at many different positions in 2020, as he spent time playing left wing-back, left midfield, right midfield, and in a central attacking midfield position as well. His biggest moment of the season was his match-winning assist to Gelmin Rivas in extra time to give United a 2-1 win against Atlanta United on Oct. 24.

Previous Experience

2019 (Loudoun): Paredes made his debut for Loudoun United as a substitute in the 4-1 victory over Swope Park on Sept. 26. The midfielder was handed his first start in the match against Nashville SC on Sept. 29. In his third match for Loudoun, Paredes recorded his first assist during the 2-1 loss against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Oct. 2. Paredes finished the season with one assist and three chances created in three appearances (one start).

As a member of D.C. United's Academy since the U-13 level, Paredes recorded 39 goals in 85 U.S. Soccer Development Acad- emy (USSDA) appearances (61 starts). The 16-year-old impressed with his ability to score from his midfield position, while remaining disciplined in defense.

After breaking through the D.C. United academy, Paredes made his professional debut for D.C. United’s USL Championship affiliate Loudoun United on Sept. 26, 2019. Paredes came on as a substitute during a 4-1 victory over Swope Park Rangers. The 16-year-old made his first start for the club in a 2-0 defeat against Nashville FC on September 29. Paredes recorded his first assist for Loudoun during the 2-1 defeat against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on October 2.

International Experience

Paredes has represented the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team on three occasions recording a goal and an assist. The Virginia native made his debut in a friendly against the Netherlands U-17 squad on Nov. 14, 2019. During the match, Paredes came off the bench and scored his first goal for the national team as he helped his squad to a 3-3 draw. In the 3-2 victory over Turkey’s U-17 team on Nov. 18, 2019, the midfielder recorded an as- sist for the United States second goal of the match.
