D.C. United have acquired defender Marquinhos Pedroso off of waivers after trading their natural first round pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft to FC Dallas in exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM).

Pedroso joined FC Dallas from Figueirense FC in the Brazilian first tier on July 10, 2018 after spending six months on loan with FerencvƔros in the Hungarian first division. Since joining MLS, the defender has made 15 appearances (14 starts) including two appearances (one start) in 2019.
The 25-year-old started his professional career with Figueirense Futebol Clube in the Brazilian first tier when he signed with the club after rising through their youth ranks on June 1, 2012 as an 18-year-old. In multiple stints with the club (2012, 2014 and 2015), Pedroso scored one goal and recorded five assists in 69 appearances for the Brazilian side.
During his time with Figueirense Futebol Clube, Pedroso went on loan to GrĆŖmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense in the Brazilian first division in 2014 where he made one appearance in a 0-0 draw with Palmeiras on June 1, 2014. He then went back on loan to Gaziantepspor in the Turkish first division in January 2017 where he scored one goal in 16 appearances. Before signing with FC Dallas, Pedroso spent 2018 with FerencvĆ”ros in the Hungarian first division where he made 25 appearances in all competitions.
