D.C. United drafted three players in the first two rounds of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. The Black-and-Red selected defender Chris Odoi-Atsem with the 12th overall pick in the first round, goalkeeper Eric Klenofsky (34th overall), and defender Jo Vetle Rimstad (43rd overall) in the second round.
United’s first round draft pick, Odoi-Atsem, spent his collegiate soccer career at the University of Maryland where he made 88 appearances, scored 3 goals and recorded 8 assists for the Terrapins. The 21-year-old earned two First Team All-Big Ten conference nominations in his four years and helped guide the team to an undefeated regular season in 2016.

Klenofsky played goalkeeper at Monmouth University where he made 66 appearances and recorded 32 shutouts for the Blue Hawks. The 6’ 6” goalkeeper was the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Co-Goalkeeper of the Year and held the nation’s best goals against average in 2013 and 2014.
Rimstad made 75 career appearances for Radford University and was named NSCAA Third Team All-American.and Big South Defender of the Year in 2016.
