United goalkeeper Bill Hamid has been nominated for Etihad Airways Player of the Month for the month of June. The 25-year-old Homegrown Player returned to the field on May 27 against Sporting Kansas City following a long layoff from knee surgery.
In his four matches in 2016, Hamid has kept three clean sheets and recorded 17 saves. His Goals Against Average, while albeit a smaller sample size, is a league-best 0.50, and he is averaging over four saves a game.
Already the Annandale, Va., native has pulled out some remarkable saves, including two in the dying moments against the Houston Dynamo to preserve an important shutout draw on the road.
Voting ends at 10 AM ET Friday morning, and the winner will be announced later that day.
