The Black-and-Red hosted the Canadian side at RFK at the end of July, where Patrick Mullins made his home debut after being acquired from New York City FC several weeks earlier. The former University of Maryland forward scored his first D.C. United goal in the match, which ended in a draw.

Aug. 24, 2016: 1-1 (Montreal v. United)


United traveled to Montreal less than a month later for a rematch, which ended with an identical scoreline.  Lamar Neagle converted a penalty kick while Bill Hamid came up with monstrous saves to keep Montreal at bay.
