With only two weekends of games remaining in WAGS' spring season, the final scramble for points starts this weekend. While some divisions will actually finish up on Sunday, many other teams have at least two games left to catch up.
High School and Under-19s
McLean Fusion has a lock on High School Division 1, and finished their 9-game season with 24 points. Even if the LMVS Patriots win their final three games, they will have to settle for second. Still, the battle for the runner-up spot is tight, with the Patriots and the Crofton Wolves sitting on 12 and 11 points, respectively. The Wolves have one game left, against the DSC Sparks on Saturday, while the Patriots play DCST Edge and the Sparks this weekend.
In High School Division 2, FCV Courage are in first with 16 points, but the Herndon Sting are just behind them with 14. Both teams have two games left, and Courage doesn't have any breathing room -- they must win both if they want to be sure of winning the division. The Courage play the Vista Fury on Sunday, which should be a tight contest considering the Fury is in third with 11 points. The Sting will play the DSC Dragons on Sunday as well.
The U-19 Division 3 champion will be crowned this weekend, as the divisions final games will be played on Sunday. Currently, the DSC Freedom leads the pack with 11 points, but the SSA Eagles are right behind them with ten. The Eagles have a game against the NVSC Majestics on Saturday, and if they win, they will jump ahead of the Freedom. In a classic showdown, these two teams will play each other for the title on Sunday. Regardless of the result for the Eagles on Saturday, it will be a must-win game for both teams, as the winner will take home the spoils in this matchup.
Another team will also emerge victorious in U-19 Division 4, and currently DCST Blast is leading the way with 16 points. They've only given away one goal this season, and have two games this weekend to wrap up the division. They play SAC United Premier Azzuri on Saturday and Loudoun 92G Black on Sunday. There's a three-way tie for second place between Azzuri, the SMU Furies and the Calverton Tornadoes. Azzuri faces the SAC United I Lady Diplomats, and the Tornadoes play the SYC Spirit. If the Blast lose one or both of their games, one of the teams in second could jump into the lead and take the title.
Division 1
Loudoun 96G Red is leading U-14 Division 1 with 11 points, but the Freestate Storm are close behind with ten. Loudoun has three games left to hang on to the title, and they'll need the wins to stay on top of the division. CYA Chaos is in third with nine points, and could catch up if they win their next three. Loudoun plays the Storm on Saturday and the DCST Metros Blue on Sunday.
SYA FCV has a hold on U-13 Division 1 with 13 points, but SAC United Premier and McLean Extreme Green are close behind in second with ten points. FCV plays the TSC Red Storm on Sunday, and SAC United Premier is playing ODFC Revolution on Saturday, then turns around and faces McLean Extreme Green.
In U-13 Division 1, VSA Heat is leading the way with 17 points. BRYC 98 Elite is right behind with 15 points, and will be looking to win both of their matches, against the ASA Arundel Azzurri and the Bethesda Academy on Sunday. The Heat has one game on Sunday against Reston United.
U-14
FC Frederick has 17 points in Division 2, and will not be playing this weekend. However, second placed SYA FCV is facing off against the McLean Force Green, and a win will push them into a tie for first.
Division 3 is being led by the SSA Hornets, who are undefeated in six games. They have two matches this weekend, against the DAA Sharks on Saturday and the MSC Magic on Sunday. If they can win both, it will be difficult, if not impossible, for anyone to catch them.
BRYC Elite Blue lead the way in Division 4 with 16 points, but the SMU Rockets and Loudoun 96G Black are only three points behind. The Blue face the FSC Fury and Loudoun will play the WWSC Lady Wolves, both on Sunday, while the Rockets do not play this weekend.
The Calverton Angels are holding the top spot in Division 5 with 16 points, but the ASC Radicals are right behind them with 15 points. The Radicals could bypass the Angels if they win both their games this weekend, against SYC Thunder Blue on Saturday and the PWSI Courage White on Sunday. The Angels also play the Thunder Blue, but on Sunday.
The NVSC Jr. Majestics Gold are holding strong in the Pre-Divisional Program, as they are undefeated in five games. They face the Alexandria Thunder on Saturday and the DSC Spirit on Sunday. Both the Thunder and Spirit are three points behind, and will be looking for a win. Thunder also plays the DCST Metros Red on Sunday, while the Spirit will face the SEVP Misfits on Saturday. Metros Red are currently in second with 13 points.
U-13
The Freestate Fury are dominating Division 2 with 19 points, and they will play the tough MSC Coyotes White on Sunday. It is almost impossible to catch the Fury, as their biggest threat, the ASC Wolves, is sitting on 11 points. However, a few teams are two games behind, and could catch up with a few timely wins.
EPIC Storm continues to lead the way in Divison 3 with 14 points, but the SEVP Tsunami is two points behind them. The Storm is not playing this weekend, nor is the Tsunami.
Division 4 has another close race, with LUYAA SC Rage leading with 18 points, and the DAA Warriors right behind them at 16. The Rage faces Bethesda Azul on Saturday, and the Warriors play PWSI Courage White, then VSA Heat White on Sunday.
U-12
Division 2 shows the PSC Cobras winning with 15 points, and they will play the SYC Tigers on Saturday, then the ODFC Lightning on Sunday. They will need to win both matches to keep hold of the top spot, as several teams are within five points of the lead, including the DCST Metros Blue, who have 13 points. Metros Blue will play the SMU Furies on Sunday.
Arlington Forza Red and the NVSC Jr. Majestics are tied with 13 points at the top of Division 3, and they will face off against each other on Sunday. Whoever wins the match will take a strong hold on the top spot.
The WSC Pachuca Dragons lead the way in Division 4 with 16 points, but the VSA Heat Gold are in second with 15 points. Heat Gold play Loudoun 98G Black on Saturday, then turn around and play the FSC Revolution on Sunday. The Dragons also have back-to-back games, facing off against Arlington Forza White, then ASC Xtreme on Sunday.
