Under-14 academy team travel to Montreal for Summer Invitational

The D.C. United Under-14 Academy travel to Montreal, Canada, to compete in the 2016 inaugural summer invitational hosted by the Montreal Impact (July 7-10). In addition to the Impact, the U-14s will play the Chicago Fire and Italian Serie A’s Bologna FC. 

The invitational will give D.C. United academy players and staff an opportunity to learn from other MLS teams and the Italian top division’s Bologna FC. The teams will be able to share techniques and exchange training methods at the Centre Nutrilait, Montreal’s new state-of-the-art training facility. 

“We want to thank the Montreal Impact for inviting us to participate in this tournament,” John Bello, United U-14 head coach, said. “The staff are all excited to have our boys compete against top MLS and international competition. In addition to the high level of competition, we look forward to offering our players the opportunity to experience a different culture, explore Montreal, and integrate socially with the other players participating in this event.” 

The U-14 team recently concluded their season at the Dallas showcase event (June 20-23), winning their opening game 4-0 against St. Louis Scott Gallagher before losing their final two matches against Orlando City SC and the San Jose Earthquakes.
