Thanks for the memories, Landon Donovan

Landon Donovan gift presentation

Prior to kickoff ahead of D.C. United’s match against the Los Angeles Galaxy at StubHub Center on Aug. 27, D.C. United and EventsDC honored retiring Galaxy midfielder and U.S. Soccer legend Landon Donovan with the gift of a refurbished seat from RFK Stadium. The seat, presented by United Head Coach Ben Olsen, included a plaque with the inscription: "To Landon Donovan, we dedicate this piece of American soccer history to honor your place in American soccer history. Thanks for the memories! - D.C. United and EventsDC"

The home of D.C. United and the site of a record 22 U.S. Men’s National Team matches, RFK Stadium is recognized as a hallowed venue for the sport in the United States.

Over the course of his career with the U.S. Men’s National Team, San Jose Earthquakes and Los Angeles Galaxy, Donovan made 18 appearances and scored 10 goals at RFK.

D.C. United also presented Donovan with an oar from a paddle board as well as a framed picture of the U.S. star in a World Cup qualifier at RFK in 2009.
