United left back Taylor Kemp has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for his three-assist performance in the Black-and-Red's 4-1 victory over Orlando City SC on Saturday, Sept. 24. The fourth-year defender had a solid game both offensively and defensively; he led the team in touches, passes, interceptions and passes in the opposing half.
The 26-year-old tied a club record for assists in a match after initially being credited for four. In the 34th minute, Kemp received a backheel from Patrick Nyarko in the penalty area and fired the ball across the face of goal, where his former college teammate Patrick Mullins was waiting to slam the ball into the back of the net.
Early in the second half, Kemp swung in a cross that Lloyd Sam headed past Joe Bendik for the game's second goal.
