Defender Steve Birnbaum has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for his performance in United's victory over the Portland Timbers on Saturday, August 13. The third-year defender scored in his second consecutive match when he volleyed home Lloyd Sam's corner in the seventh minute after Bobby Boswell flicked the ball on at the near post.
Birnbaum also led the team in interceptions (4), had three tackles and two clearances.
United forward Patrick Mullins made the bench for his performance; he led the team in shots and also recorded his first assist of 2016 when he played a chipped pass to Luciano Acosta.
