D.C. United's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup run ended after two matches in 2017, as the Black-and-Red were defeated by the New England Revolution at Harvard University on Wednesday, June 28.

After Costa Rican forward José Ortiz headed home the opening goal in the seventh minute, United looked comfortable for the remainder of the first half. Right before the goal, New England hit the post, but didn't threaten too much afterwards. Right before halftime, however, Diego Fagundez evened the score with a free kick in the 44th minute.

The Revs then took the lead early in the second half when forward Brian Wright scored his first professional goal.  The Black-and-Red pushed for an equalizer but ultimately came up short.  Now, Ben Olsen's side have to turn around and travel to Canada to face the Montreal Impact on Saturday, July 1.

Goals
