After holding Brazil, the CONMEBOL's first-place side, to a scoreless draw on Thursday, United forward Bruno Miranda and Bolivia look to earn another hard-fought result against Uruguay in Montevideo on Tuesday night.
While Bolivia have struggled in their World Cup Qualifiers, suffering 11 losses in 17 matches and accruing only 14 points, their Thursday night showing against Brazil was valiant, as keeper Carlos Lampe tallied a whopping 11 saves to keep the likes of Neymar, Philippe Coutinho, and Gabriel Jesus off the score sheet. Bolivia now face the South American table's second-place team in Uruguay, and while their 2018 World Cup hopes are out of reach, the Bolivians surely remain determined to put together another strong performance against another dangerous side.
Uruguay also battled to a scoreless draw on Thursday, failing to beat bottom-dwellers Venezuela and missing their first opportunity to clinch a spot in Russia 2018. With their World Cup hopes in their own hands, the Uruguayans will likely be chomping at the bit against Bolivia, as third-place Colombia and fourth-place Peru are only one and three points behind Uruguay, respectively.
Despite remaining an unused sub in Bolivia's match versus Brazil, Miranda may pick up minutes against Uruguay, as the young forward offers fresh legs against the CONMEBOL's second-place team. Miranda has three caps for the Bolivian National Team and last appeared in La Verde’s friendly against Nicaragua on June 3, 2017. The Santa Cruz de la Sierra native has made one appearance in Bolivia’s 2018 World Cup Qualifying campaign, coming on as an 89th minute substitute in the 2-0 win against Argentina on March 28, 2017.
