BEN OLSEN - COACH
On not getting that second goal in tonight…
Overall it wasn’t the sharpest night for us but I’m happy we battled back to get a draw on the road. I think you set yourself up to succeed in the playoffs and that goal woke us up a little bit. Once the goal hit, we started to bring the full hunger that`s necessary to win games in this league. In the second half we played some good stuff and were a little bit unlucky not to get that win. It gave us the right momentum to start the playoffs and we’re looking forward to next weekend.
What can you say about your forward`s tonight…
I thought Eddie was fantastic tonight. I feel like every game the forward’s relationship is growing and it’s unlucky today that they didn’t get the goal.
What are you guys looking to do while you wait for the playoff`s to start…
We’re going to exhale for a second and take a day off tomorrow. We’ll show up Tuesday with a playoff mentality, have a good week of training and prepare for whoever is next.
BOBBY BOSWELL - DEFENDER
On the final result of the game…
Obviously we wanted to win, but we fought back and got a tie. Under the circumstances, knowing what happened in the other game, I think we obviously wanted to win to jump ahead of LA.
On his team's start to the game…
We had a little bit of a shaky start. I think we started off the first couple of minutes okay and then we had a couple of giveaways in bad spots. After the goal, we kind of turned it on a little more.
STEVE BIRNBAUM - DEFENDER
On his team's play in the attacking third…
I think we might have been off a little on the final pass and the final product. As a team, we have to be better all around.
On preparing for playoffs…
Everyone's pretty excited for it. We just got to come out with a lot of energy and do what we have been doing the whole season to make sure we get a result.
FRANK KLOPAS – COACH
On Marco Di Vaio’s final game…
It was an emotional game, but we wanted to come out and end the season in a positive way and finish off with a win. The guys gave everything out on the field and Marco scored a great goal, so in the end it’s a special night and a sad night because the season is coming to an end and it’s been a difficult one for us but we are finishing off on a positive note. We acquired some new players that made the team a lot better, but also it ends on a sad note because we are going to miss a great human being that had a tremendous career. Everyone here, not only the player`s but the staff also, learnt about a man that competes every day and loves doing what he does and that`s a good lesson for all the younger guys to see. We are going to miss him not only the staff but everyone in the city.
On Maxim Tissot and the younger player`s…
Max had a solid game. He had something in his stomach that was bothering him so he gave it his all and it came to the point where he couldn’t continue. The younger generation, are guys that we can rely on but they have to understand that it takes hard work to continue to develop and grow and one of the positive things that we can look at from a club standpoint, is the future USL PRO team that will be created. These games are crucial for the reserve player`s that don’t get to play on a regular basis with the MLS team so that they can stay fit and sharp. I think that will be a big plus for the organization and there was no better guy for them to learn from than Marco Di Vaio.
His reaction on Marco scoring…
I had a feeling that he was going to score. It was a weird feeling but I was thinking one for sure maybe two, and when I saw him score it was a great feeling. Marco is a team player so it would have meant more to him to win for the team than to score a goal, but for us to have him score a goal on his last game in front of everyone, it was a great feeling.
PATRICE BERNIER - MIDFIELD
On Marco Di Vaio…
We saw in the last games that it was rare for him not to score. Marco brought us to another level in this league and was always a leader amongst us. It was an honor to play with him and to have my name side by side with his in the Montreal Impact`s history.
What did you learn from Marco over the years…
Even though he played at a higher level before, he never came here with a bad attitude. He was always happy and professional with everyone he met. He has a passion that he transcends on to everyone. We want him to stay, but all we can do now is appreciate his time spent with us and salute his successful passage here in Montreal.
MARCO DI VAIO – FORWARD
On his performance tonight..
It was a lot of emotions for me to share this goal and game tonight with my parents, family, colleagues, staff and the fans. It was incredible for me and I am very happy that I scored and that we played well tonight. I would like to thank everyone again that came tonight to see my last game and experience this with me.
Does this feel like your last career game…
No, everything is still the same, before the game, after and during but with more emotions. I will miss soccer because I love playing, training and giving it my all. It was a very good part in my life and I am very proud to say that I did a good job during my career. It was a wonderful day today and I am very touched by the gifts I received from my team and the fans here today.
