Head Coach Ben Olsen
On how team adapted without Wayne…
"We didn’t create many chances, but that was Montreal's plan coming into this game. They make things difficult when it comes to chance creation and they’re organized. We could’ve used Wayne's quality out there tonight for sure, but I still think with the team out there, we could’ve produced more opportunities... but the effort was there. Defensively, we earned another shutout… our fourth this year which is a positive. This isn’t how we want to walk away from home games but we’ll manage the players’ bodies and hopefully go to Colorado and get some points out of the game."
D.C. United Midfielder Ulises Segura
On the game and his first start of the season…
“I am very happy to have started. The team tried very hard and there were a lot of blocks, but I am excited to have played with the team.”
On a frustrating game offensively…
“Yes it was pretty ugly. We couldn’t really play the ball well, tough to move the ball forward. They had their line very back so it was hard to get through and create opportunities.”
On another clean sheet…
“Clean sheets are always great. We just need to keep playing hard and get points moving forward.”
D.C. United Midfielder Paul Arriola
On a frustrating game on offense…
“It felt frustrating. They are a tough team to break down, very disciplined. We just didn’t move the ball quick enough. We could’ve been more direct at times and created more but they played tough.”
On a better defensive performance than Saturday’s defeat…
“They had a gameplan but couldn’t create more than a couple chances against us. Defensively we felt pretty good. In the last 20 minutes or so we pushed the ball up more and get a winner. Tonight wasn’t the sharpest but we played a team that was structured very well defensively. But one point is better than zero.”
On the team’s perspective heading into the next match at Colorado…
“It has been a strong start to the season. We got a few wins in the beginning and that’s important to remember. A clean sheet is something to be positive about. We head to a Colorado team that is struggling a bit right now and it will be a good challenge for us. They also have a short week like we do, it will be a fun game.”
