Head coach Ben Olsen
On the match…
"I thought it was a tough night to play soccer. The wind was changing left and right then in the second half we had to deal with the rain too. Overall, I thought it was gutsy performance from the whole group… especially with our defensive efforts. The way we defended the box was as good as I’ve seen and it was a night where you needed to do that to get a result. We’re excited to host in the knockout round so our fans can see us at least one more time.”
On monitoring scores around the league on Decision Day…
"We knew the scores of the other games and also knew the scenarios so at some point it made sense to go for a point."
On thinking about the midseason turnaround…
"I can’t right now because we have a playoff game on Wednesday or Thursday. But, I am very happy to be associated with this team. They are a gutsy group who have been able to win in a variety of ways over the last couple of months. The group understands that it doesn’t mean much right now. The fun part begins with a knockout game at home in front of our fans. It’s a great opportunity and we don’t want to squander that. We want to keep playing as long as we can.”
United Forward Wayne Rooney
On a home game in the playoffs...
"Thrilled. We showed the determination which we have showed over previous weeks. First of all we kept a clean sheet. And we stayed in the game. Thankfully tonight it moved us up a place, which will give us a home game."
On good defensive performances...
"Fred, yeah he was brilliant. I think overall, the whole team, we defended well. Chicago is a difficult team. They move around a lot, and almost with the lack of discipline which makes it so difficult to defend against. We coped really well and as I said, thankfully we have a home game next."
On being proud of the performances over the last ten games...
"Yeah, I think everyone is delighted. To finish fourth in the league from where we were is a great achievement. I'm not sure when the game is, this Wednesday or Thursday. We will be ready for Columbus or Philadelphia."
On the degree of satisfaction on gaining so much ground...
"Yeah, of course, the satisfaction for the team and from where we have come to. And of course today was all about trying to secure fourth place, which we have achieved. The satisfaction has to be put on hold and we have to try to move on and get more in our next game. We have to try to get through that game and we've given ourselves a better chance obviously with the game being at home."
On the momentum...
"Yeah, of course. It's 10 unbeaten and we know it's a difficult game. The point is enough in the end, obviously enough to secure fourth place. We are going into our game now with a lot of confidence and hopefully try and get the win."
United Midfielder Russell Canouse
On the tough conditions...
"We knew it was going to be tough coming in. We looked at the weather before the game. We knew it was going to be a tough one. We didn't expect all the wind and rain in the second half. We came out, we were going against the wind, so we didn't get one with the wind in the first half so it made it difficult in the second half to counter and score one. The result was enough for us to have the home advantage for playoffs so that's a positive."
On getting home advantage considering where the team was in July...
"It's very exciting for us. I think it was our goal coming into this game, we needed to win. Luckily a tie was able to get us that. It's just a big advantage to have our home fans behind us for the first game."
On being in good form the second half of the season...
"Yeah, there's been a lot of things going our way. Obviously being at Audi Field with the fans and having guys come back in, and just the mentality that has been going on, and the team has been great. We know that, we have to continue it into the playoffs. Hopefully the home game either Wednesday or Thursday goes our way."
