WASHINGTON (Sept. 15, 2015) – D.C. United (3-0-0, 9 points) clinched their second consecutive berth in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals by extending their perfect run in group play with a 2-0 win over Panamanian side Árabe Unido at RFK Stadium.
Conor Doyle and Jared Jeffrey scored for the Black-and-Red, who have won seven straight contests in the group stage of the regional competition since 2014.
The Black-and-Red claimed first place in Group H, ahead of Árabe Unido (1-2-0, 3 points) and Montego Bay United (0-2-0, zero points). D.C. United will finish group play with visit to Montego Bay United in Jamaica on Sept. 22.
The quarterfinals of the 2015-16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, which are played as a home-and-away aggregate series, take place in early 2016. The only way to guarantee a ticket to D.C. Conor Doyle’s goal 36 seconds into the match was the fastest scored by D.C. United since Chris Pontius scored in 31 seconds at the New York Red Bulls on June 24, 2012.
With two goals in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, Conor Doyle is now tied with Miguel Aguilar for the team scoring lead in the competition.
Jared Jeffrey’s goal was his first since scoring at Toronto FC on Sept. 28, 2013.
D.C. United Head Coach Ben Olsen has used the same 14 players in each of the team’s three SCCL matches.
