United forward Patrick Mullins has been nominated for Etihad Airways Player of the Month following his impressive performances throughout August.
Since being acquired from New York City FC on July 20, the 24-year-old has scored five goals. Mullins, a former University of Maryland standout who won the MAC Hermann Trophy twice, is averaging a goal or assist every 75 minutes for his new team and is the top scorer. In the month since Mullins arrived in the nation's capital, United are 2-1-4 and scored multiple goals four times. Before his acquisition, United scored multiple goals four other times, but in almost triple the amount of matches (19).
"First and foremost, he’s proven that he can score goals.," head coach Ben Olsen said about his new forward. "As [Patrick] continues to do all the little things right, we now have some pieces around him to get him the ball in the right areas and he’s shown historically that he knows what to do at that point.​"
