D.C. United have announced that defender Kofi Opare underwent surgery to repair the Peroneal tendon in his left foot. Dr. Francis McGuigan, a foot and ankle specialist at MedStar Georgetown, performed the surgery. Opare will miss the remainder of the 2018 season and has an expected recovery time of 4-5 months.
The Black-and-Red acquired Opare from the LA Galaxy on July 29, 2014 and he has made 65 appearances for United since. In 2018, Opare made 11 appearances for the Black-and-Red with his last feature coming in the 2-1 win against Minnesota United on Sept. 12 at Audi Field.
