Kofi Opare has been named to the MLS Team of the Week thanks to his Man-of-the-Match worthy performance against Toronto FC on Saturday. The defender gave United an early lead when he headed home a Lloyd Sam corner in the 6th minute, soaring higher than his opponents in the box. The goal is Opare's first of the season and first since May 13, 2015.
As the match continued and Toronto's pressure increased, Opare also helped lead United's lock-down defense, which successfully staved off numerous waves of Toronto's attack as the Reds pushed hard for the go-ahead goal. Opare also finished the match tied for best passing accuracy at 80%.
