Patrick Mullins and Paul Arriola have been named to Week 29's MLS Team of the Week following their standout performances against the San Jose Earthquakes. United dominated the Quakes 4-0 at home on Saturday thanks in large part to Mullins and Arriola's play.
Mullins had a historic second half, scoring four goals in 31 minutes to complete the fastest four-goal performance in Major League Soccer history. The forward tapped in a cross from Arriola, headed in a second cross from Arriola, slotted home a free kick rebound, and scored on a free kick of his own to tally his first, second, third, and fourth goals of the season. Mullins is the only MLS player to ever score four second-half goals.
Arriola was also a force on the attack all night, bringing much-needed energy and vision to the wings. The midfielder picked up his first and second career MLS assists against the Quakes after sending two beautifully-placed balls to Mullins, and led the Black-and-Red attack with four chances created. Arriola also led the home squad in fouls won (two) and had the second-highest passing accuracy of United players logging 90 minutes (91.1%). This is Arriola's first career MLS Team of the Week.
