United midfielder Marcelo Sarvas has been suspended by the MLS Disciplinary Committee for one match and issued an undisclosed fine for serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opposing player during the match against the Philadelphia Union on April 1. Sarvas will serve his suspension during the Black-and-Red's upcoming home match on Saturday, April 8, against New York City FC.
The Brazilian midfielder has started all four matches for Ben Olsen so far this season and most recently made his 145th career MLS appearance last weekend. The 35-year-old currently leads the team in interceptions, total passes, passes per game, ball recoveries and is tied for the lead in tackles. Other central midfielders on United's roster include Luciano Acosta, Ian Harkes, Jared Jeffrey, Julian Büscher and Rob Vincent. Vincent is currently out following his left knee arthroscopic meniscectomy in late March.
