D.C. United have been drawn into Group C. The Black-and-Red are joined by 2019 MLS Cup runners-up, Toronto FC, alongside fellow Eastern Conference Teams, the New England Revolution and Montreal Impact.
D.C. Unitedās tournament schedule will be announced at a later date, potentially as early as next week, with all matches available for live viewing across Major League Soccerās network of national broadcast partners.
TOURNAMENT DETAILS
Competition begins on July 8 at ESPN Wide World of Sports with group stage matches counting towards MLS regular season standings
Tournament will feature continuous schedule of matches nearly every day, with games beginning at 9 a.m., 8 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. EDT (the majority of matches will be played in the evening)
Each team will play three group stage matches and the top two teams from each group along with the four best third-place finishers will move on to the knockout stage
The knockout stage will include a Round-of-16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Championship match taking place on August 11
Tournament winner will earn a spot in the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League
The MLS is Back Tournament is the first step in the leagueās plan to return to play. Upon completion of the tournament, MLS plans to continue its regular season with a revised schedule in home markets. The final number of matches and the schedule for the remainder of the 2020 MLS regular season will be announced by the league in the coming weeks.
