Last time out, D.C. United suffered a close 3-1 defeat on the road against fifth place Atlanta United. The Black-and-Red will look to reverse their fortunes this weekend at home as they host the Western Conference's Real Salt Lake.

After 17 matches played, Real Salt Lake sit outside of the Western Conference playoff positions, but only by goal differential which sits at -9. Looking to change that will be new RSL signing, Chicho Arango, formerly a MLS Supporter's Shield winner with LAFC in 2021.

Two D.C. United players have been on the road to recovery ahead of this weekend's match. Russell Canouse spent two weeks out of the squad due to concussion protocol and only featured on the bench in the road trip to Atlanta. While Brendan Hines-Ike, has been working his way back to full fitness after be sidelined for an operation to help repair a Lisfranc injury (mid-foot sprain). Since rejoining the Black-and-Red squad, Hines-Ike has featured in a U.S. Open Cup match, a friendly start against Necaxa, and a brief cameo at the end of D.C. United's 3-0 win over the LA Galaxy on May 21.
