What to Know?
D.C. United returns to Audi Field from Philadelphia where they fought through a physical, scoreless 90-minute draw on Wednesday night.
The Black-and-Red came close to taking the lead on multiple occasions with Christian Benteke and Ted Ku-DiPietro leading the line. Benteke came the closest to scoring just before the 70th minute when he headed the ball off of the crossbar and back down into play. 21-year-old Ku-DiPietro was a standout on the night completing dribble after dribble against the Union's defenders and seeing a point-blank shot saved.
The midfield engine, led by Mateusz Klich, was strong was reliable in winning possession and feeding attackers into the final third.
Goalkeeper Tyler Miller also kept his fourth clean sheet of the season, making two diving stops to keep the match scoreless and earn a point in the standings.
On Saturday night, 8th place D.C. United will host the LA Galaxy who have struggled out of the gate and are the current basement-dwellers of the Western Conference. So far this season, the leaky LA defense allowed 20 goals while the team has only managed to put 10 goals past their opponents.
Leading the line for the LA Galaxy will likely be Mexico's all-time leading goal-scorer, former Premier League and Champions League winner, Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. This marks the first time that Chicharito will play at Audi Field after arriving in MLS in 2020.
Ahead of the match head coach Wayne Rooney and defender Derrick Williams spoke to the press.
