Story of the Match
Yet to be defeated so far in this 2024 season, the Black-and-Red will look to continue the momentum from their strong early-season performances into the weekend. At 2 PM on Saturday, Audi Field and D.C. United will host Inter Miami CF. In four matches so far this season, Miami holds a record of 2-1-1 (W-D-L). The star-studded team is also coming off a CONCACAF Champions Cup second-leg victory over Nashville SC that was played on Wednesday night and finished to a 3-1 scoreline (5-2 on aggregate).
D.C. United center back Chris McVey will look to lace up the boots to face his former team, as he’s been a part of the backline for the Black-and-Red that has only allowed three goals in three games and registered a clean sheet against FC Cincinnati last weekend. The 6’ 3” 26-year-old has quickly amassed plenty of experience, having now played over 4,500 minutes of MLS action. McVey currently leads D.C. United with 13 clearances and 12 duels won this season.
Goalkeeper Alex Bono has also played a critical role in D.C. United’s defensive efforts, having come out of the gate as D.C. United’s starter between the posts. So far this season, he’s registered an 80% save rate and displayed some top-tier reaction saves to aid in D.C. United’s strong start to the 2024 season. Averaging four saves per game, the clean sheet last weekend was Bono's first of the season.
