What to Know?
The Black-and-Red traveled north this weekend for an Eastern Conference matchup with second place New England Revolution.Â
So far this season, the Revolution's high powered offense has been led by 2021 MLS MVP, Carles Gil. The Spanish attacking midfielder has logged seven goals this season, which ties him with Bobby Wood as the Revolution's joint top goal scorers. On the other end of the field, New England have given up 28 goals with is the most of the top three Eastern Conference sides.
Looking to create holes in the Revolution defense on Saturday night will be the red-hot Taxi Fountas, who has scored two goals in the last two matches, and 2023 All-Star striker Christian Benteke.Â
Wayne Rooney has also displayed a tactical intuition when his team needs goals late on. Last weekend, with D.C. United down by a goal in the second half, Rooney sent on Ruan and Nigel Robertha. Moments later, the two combined to equalize for the Black-and-Red and secure a point at home.
