Wet weather has wreaked havoc on the mid-Atlantic soccer scene this month. But Maryland's State Cup participants had a little more luck playing last weekend, with more than a dozen matches contested before the rain shut down the majority of area fields.
Saturday saw eight games played across the divisions in the morning before the rain hit. On the boys side, the Baltimore Bays Blues defeated SAC Premier 1-0 in the Under-16 bracket. SAC Premier's U-18 boys squad defeated the BSC Internationals 4-1 in the first game of the day, and the Baltimore Bays Chelsea U-13 boys defeated SAC Classic 2 5-0.
In the U-17 boys division, the SSA Rapids defeated the Baltimore Bays United 1-0. In the same division, DC Stoddert Blue Lightning defeated FSC 2-1. Sunday's U-17 competition saw the Upper Chesapeake SC Falcons defeat Northern Elite 4-1, and Rush Nike beat the BAYS Blue Lions 7-0.
Calverton Barza Campeones squeaked out a 3-2 win over the MSC Falcons in the U-13 boys division, and Potomac Hot Spurs defeated SAC United 1 5-0. In U-15 boys action, FC Frederick won 7-0 against Cardiff FC.
Moving over to the girls side, Bethesda Eintracht defeated MSC Elite 2-1, which moves Eintracht forward in the U-14 girls division. In U-13 girls action, the Westminster Wolves won 2-0 against Freedom Extreme, and Thunder Red Storm won 2-1 against SAC United Premier. In the same division, SAC United Chaos defeated PHWM 3-2.
Bethesda Freedom defeated the Parkville Eagles 2-0 in the U-15 division, and the Baltimore Bays won 7-1 against the Laurel Dynasty Premier in the U-17 division.
