Local Region 1 Premier League teams finding success

With U.S. Youth Soccer Region 1 Premier League regular-season games in the books, several local teams have found themselves moving on to the knockout rounds in the league.

GIRLS

PWSI Courage Red (Va.) finished in a tie for second with a 3-1-3 record in the Under-14 South division, and they move on to play the PDA Clash on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. VSA Heat Blue (Va.) are tied for third with 11 points.

PWSI Courage Gold (Va.) won five games and tied two to clinch the U-15 championship, ending their season on 17 points. SAC United (Md.) came close, but finished in second on a 4-0-3 record. Both teams will move on to play in the semifinals on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., with United facing off against Match Fit Chelsea Beat and Courage Gold playing World Class Soccer. Braddock Road Elite (Va.) finished the season in fourth with 11 points, and the Bethesda Freedom (Md.) finished the season with seven points.

VSA Heat Blue (Va.) dominated the U-16 division, winning every match and scoring 19 goals on the way to the division win. The Bethesda Freedom (Md.) clinched second with a record of 4-2-1, and the Chantilly Firecats (Va.) finished third with 11 points.

The Heat Blue will play East Meadow United on Saturday and the Freedom will play Scorpions Elite. Both games are at 1:00 p.m.

McLean MPS (Va.) finished their season in third with a record of 3-0-4 in the U-17 division.

In the U-18 division, the Bethesda Dragons (Md.) finished second with a 4-2-1 record. They will face the Albertson Gold Fury on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

BOYS

The Baltimore Bays Chelsea (Md.) dominated the last half of their U-14 schedule and clinched the division with 19 points, but also allowed only one goal against during their campaign. They will play the Smithtown Kickers Arsenal on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Montgomery Magic Green (Md.) finished tied for third with 13 points.

The U-15 team from OBGC (Md.)finished at the top of the pack in their division, with a record of 6-1-0. They will play Beachside SC at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bethesda Revolution finished their season with a record of 3-3-1, leaving them tied for third place with 10 points.  Team America Stripes (Va.) finished 2-4-1, and the LMVSC Hawks (Va.) finished 1-2-4.

FC Frederick (Md.) won the U-16 division with 17 points and a 5-0-2 record, and will play the MPS Soccer Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. SAC HC (Md.) clinched a last-minute victory to finish second in the division, and will face off against the Manhattan Ajax on Saturday, also at 1:00. Bethesda FC (Md.) ended their season with a 4-3-0 record, leaving them with 12 points and a tie for third. The Reston Knights finished with a 2-5-0 record.

In the U-17 division, ABGC Annandale United (Va.) finished tied for third with 12 points with VISTA RFC (Va.). Both teams posted 3-1-3 records.

SAC Premier (Md.) has finished their U-18 campaign with a record of 3-3-1, and the ABGC Premier (Va.) squad finished their run at 2-4-1.

All semifinal games will be played at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex in Delaware on Saturday.
